“Hula Cam” with GoPro vs Corey Rich’s “Why” with Nikon D4

Two videos presented for your perusal.

1) “Hula Cam” is shot with a GoPro HD HERO (seen here before when a man filmed a shark stalking him). This video’s gotten a lot of notice since it’s debut in December 2011. So much so that TheOriginalHelski has dropped info on how she filmed it.

2) “Why” is a promotional video interviewing sporty folk doing sporty things in sporty locations. We’ll be damned if we still don’t like it. The video is filmed, we’re assuming, with the Nikon D4 and hits all the right buttons to make us consider buying the thing. Then we saw the price and re-thought everything.

The GoPro HD Hero remains in our thoughts as it remains closer to our price range.

Watch both videos under the cut.

Chuck Patterson Paddles Into the Sea, Films Sharks Stalking Him

I paddle out on my Hobie Stand up paddle board, 250 yards by myself and within minutes a shark surprised me with a swing of his tail, almost knocking me into the water. The shark swam away and another 7′ shark appeared and circled my board off and on for 12 minutes. it was an insane experience which i hope to enjoy again soon.

Not only is Chuck Patterson insane, he takes damn good amateur video. Hopefully, he’ll live long enough to make more.

Video dropped under the cut.

Man Threatens to Behead Neighbors Over Vuvuzela Blaring. Really, Can You Blame Him?

This is what it’s coming to.

Weiden (Germany): A 45-year-old American working for the US Army has been arrested in Germany for threatening to chop off his neighbours’ heads with an axe over their nonstop blaring of World Cup vuvuzela horns.

We bloody well swear it is. If this morbid vuvuzela fascination doesn’t end, we’ll chop off the head of the Internet. And that’s a viscous assortment of fluids we do not want on the living room rug.

Anyway, below the jump, we’ve dropped animated gifs, videos and photos demonstrating the reasons why vuvuzelas must be stopped. Yeah, it’s not a threatening axe to the neck but it’ll do.

2012 Olympics Mascots Revealed: Amorphous Hunks of Metal Brought Alive via a Rainbow, No Really

We’re pretty sure Mighty Orbots needs to be notified.

Olympic committee of making mascots meant to inspire the sportsmanship and challenges of a worldwide sporting event, what have you been smoking? Sure it’s nice you got a group of second graders to participate in the design of the characters. But does it have to look like a bunch of second graders designed the things?

It all began with Izzy, didn’t it? You saw Atlanta throw their hands up in the air in 1996, give up on creativity, and figured this gives you the right to follow suit and no one else would notice or care.

Well, it doesn’t.

Now you go back to the drawing board and start over. Tell the press these metallic future Doctor Who monsters were just a joke. Go to your artists. Wine them. Dine them. Don’t let them leave the gilded dungeon you’ve set up for them until they’ve conceived a proper mascot. A mascot that can be proudly broken down into D&D alignment charts on the side of good, like the 2010 Vancouver Olympic mascots.

You have 2 years to right this wrong, London. Don’t make Atlanta’s mistake.

The DeltaWing racer was revealed at the Chicago Auto Show 2010 and dazzled our eyes with future-vision.

“We’re not worried about it at all,” Dave Cobb, the executive vice-president of the Vancouver Organising Committee said in response to a newspaper article that dubbed the torch “The Olympic Toke“.

[…]

The torch’s design is intended to “represent Canada through the contours of winter landscapes and lines of winter sports,” according VANOC’s website.
