Focus Overload ‘The Bests’ 2011: All at Once. All for You: Movies Edition
Posted by mistergroonk in Movies, Trailers, Video on December 29, 2011
We were not able to attend every movie release in 2011. A fault of our not having the cash to make that happen. If any kindly geek movie review blog would like to change that…drop us a DM at @groonk.
*Ahem*
Now that the shameless plugging is over, check out the small group of ‘best of’ lists and trailer mashups we found interesting. First up is a 2011 movie mashup by SleepySkunk.
SleepySkunk’s 2011 Movie Trailer Mashup
SleepySkunk was kind enough to provide a list of the movies used in this epic 2011 trailer mashup of epicness.

“Dracula’s Greatest Comics Appearances” Documented. Damn Accurate.

Dracula!
No. Dracula…IN COMICS!
Comics Alliance writer Chris Sims manifested a list of “Dracula’s Greatest Comics Appearances.” And it was good.
Although, Sims forgot the classic Planetary issue “Century” wherein Elijah Snow decides to show Dracula who’s boss.
Yes, that is century baby Elijah Snow kicking the crotch out of the king of all vampires after he used his century baby powers to freeze said vampire into a bloodsucking Popsicle. These are the times we love comics.

Wherein We Learn Twitter and LSD are Similar Monkeys
Posted by mistergroonk in Twitter on April 19, 2009
Today is the day LSD spoke to Dr Hoffman and he listened. Roughly 66 years ago by @Cracked reckoning. After stumbling over tons of hits mentioning this very well known fact, we’ve decided to participate in this trending media.
Because everyone else is doing it. We were beginning to feel left out.
Thanks to Phil Baumann, we now know why Twitter is so addictive. His list comparing Twitter to LSD was an eye opening, mind-expanding bicycle ride…of funny.*
Out of the list of 25, these few caught our attention.
1Time Distortion. LSD alters users’ perceptions of time. What seems like a minute can actually be hours. You can spend a whole day on Twitter thinking you only spent 20 minutes tweeting, only to find out the whole day’s gone.
2 Mind-altering. Depending on who you follow and the links you click on, Twitter can be like a proverbial Rabbit Hole. Many users express alterations in how they interact with others online. They often claim to be exposed to new sources of information that they would otherwise never have encountered without Twitter. Just as mundane experiences can appear fantastic-plastic while on LSD, so too can the experience of otherwise trivial bits of information appear mind-expanding. The “kaleidoscopic play†of tweets and links can produce a peculiar heightened sense of altered consciousness. It is called Continuous Partial Attention.

24 False Promises of Paradise. Hunter S. Thompson on Timothy Leary’s flawed thinking on LSD: “All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit“. The pied-pipers of LSD sold the misguided notion that it could buy a ticket into a heavenly paradise. Whatever good LSD may have offered the world was mangled by the delusions that so often are induced by overhype. Twitter faces a similar challenge. The current wave of marketing gurus who promise marketing-salvation will prove equally disappointing to many. Twitter has a place in marketing. Unfortunately there will be many who don’t know where it is.
For the complete list, why don’t you take a trip?
*Which is due to the fact that it’s true. The addictive nature of Twitter, I mean.
