What you’re seeing here is a short Superman fan film from Robb Pratt. We think he pretty much nailed the classic feel he was going for.
Maybe he should set his eyes on getting a Kickstarter project funded.

Today in Star Wars: Star Wars Uncut is Finished!
Posted by mistergroonk in Digital Share, Intertube Madness, Just Freaking Neat, Movies on August 20, 2010
There should have been a post lurking in our archives about this bit of fan love for Star Wars: A New Hope(see:the good Star Wars). We’re guessing there’s a post draft lurking about GNET’s dashboard. Which means: we forgot.
Whoops.
That doesn’t matter now. The Star Wars Uncut fan film made by an army of geeks is finished and ready for your viewing enjoyment. What were the rules?
Good question:
What was the result?
Better question:
Star Wars Uncut “The Escape” from Casey Pugh on Vimeo.
And that was just the beginning. This A NEW HOPE mashup is not assembled in its entirety thus avoiding the Legion of Lucas Lawyers Leveling this Long Lamented Love Project. Below the jump lay choice clips from the Top 50 of all the clips.
Fair warning. We might have gone a bit over board with the sharing of these.
Today in Star Wars: The BLACKSTAR WARRIOR. Slicker than Super Fly.

“Official” Synopsis
Lando Calrissian was the true hero of Star Wars. Han Solo, just a pirate lackey.
Ya dig?
What We Learned:
Darth Vader has more beautiful girls than he can handle.
Why We’re Gonna Watch:
This fan-made(?) Star Wars as blacksploitation trailer is 3 minutes and 11 seconds of love. Appearing in our Twitter feed early Monday. It looks to have viral video aspirations. To what end we’re not sure yet. Blackstar Warrior is a choice bit of funny and we’re hoping there’s a full length parody in the future works.
The deeper we dig, the more this looks like a follow-up movie to BLACK DYNAMITE.
When’s it coming?
No clue yet.
Whomever is behind this, you have our complete support.

#MusicMonday: 8-Bit Dr. Horrible, Experience the Ph.D in Horribleness Through Gamer Eyes
Posted by mistergroonk in Animation, Games, Intertube Madness, Just Freaking Neat, LOL on April 19, 2010
Joss Whedon’s 2008 web serial Dr Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog is a love that will not die. Nor should it. We bore witness to the fan made prequel HORRIBLE TURN and deemed it worthy.
Now lay your eyes on Doctor Octoroc‘s 8-Bit Dr Horrible. This is not a shot-for-shot rehash of the Dr Horrible experience. It is an 8-bit game-like adaptation that’s damn amusing to watch. Acts 1 and 2 are done. One of the special moments we love is seeing Capt Hammer throw the car at Horrible’s face.
We can’t wait to see Act 3.
Update: Act 3 is in and it is *love.*
Watch the drama unfold on the main site or look below the jump to the handy playlist we made just for you.
BTW you can download the 8-bit soundtrack if you like. Dr Horrible would not be a musical without that.

Saturday Night Double Feature: Witness the Fan Made HORRIBLE TURN before DR HORRIBLE
Posted by mistergroonk in Intertube Madness, Movies, Music on November 14, 2009
It was 2008 when Joss Whedon’s DR HORRIBLE’s SING-ALONG-BLOG stormed the Internet with the knowledge that the status is not quo. Since then it’s spontaneously spawned clusters of cosplayers, fanart, and a redefined love of Felicia Day, Nathan Fillion and The NPH.
And then some fans got together to explore the world before Dr Horrible became so horrible. HORRIBLE TURN visits Captain Hammer, Billy Buddy (Dr Horrible) and oddly enough, Johnny Snow in their high school years:
Below you will behold HORRIBLE TURN the homage/parody/tribute/unauthorized prequel to Dr Horrible and the original “Brand New Day” DR HORRIBLE. All in one post! We’ bring the joy, faithful reader. We bring the joy.
Late Tuesday Tease: The Hunt for Gollum
Posted by mistergroonk in Movies, Trailers on April 29, 2009
We’re not kidding anyone here, faithful readers. It is, in fact, not Tuesday as of this posting. It is a rule of ours to not count it as the next day until we see the glimmer of that first, pink light. Also, this Hunt for Gollum business would have come and gone by next Tuesday.
The Hunt for Gollum is an unauthorized 45-minute fan-film set in the Lord of the Rings universe, set to premiere at the Sci-Fi London film festival.
[…]
The whole thing is being produced for £3000 — but it looks like a million. The story was inspired by an appendix to Lord of the Rings, in which Tolkien explains “what Aragorn and Gollum got up to before the trilogy began.”
As far as fan-film trailers go, it wasn’t a horrifying experience. It didn’t choke us “what in hell did I just put into my eyes?!” Which means It has a chance of being halfway decent. If only we lived in London.
