Comics Alliance writer Chris Sims manifested a list of “Dracula’s Greatest Comics Appearances.” And it was good.

Although, Sims forgot the classic Planetary issue “Century” wherein Elijah Snow decides to show Dracula who’s boss.

Yes, that is century baby Elijah Snow kicking the crotch out of the king of all vampires after he used his century baby powers to freeze said vampire into a bloodsucking Popsicle. These are the times we love comics.

Creepy Comics Ride the Dark Horse

creepyMID-darkhorse

Dark Horse Comics relaunched Creepy, a horror comics title, and we missed it. BoingBoing has read it so we’ll let them do the setup:

…one of those titles that caused straight America to recoil in terror. Creepy‘s short stories veered between morality plays in which some awful person did some terrible deed and received his comeuppance to unabashed, straight-ahead horror in which terrible people did terrible things — often to other terrible people — and got away with it.

Groonk: Knew about that one, too.

ICv2: …the depiction of these political figures has become increasingly controversial with Erik Larsen’s Savage Dragon endorsing Obama (see “Endorsement Gets Noticed”)

Groonk: …

Groonk: What you talkin’ bout, ICv2?

ICv2: …and the fact that the flag on the cover of the Clinton comic has 14 stripes (see “Marcus King of Titan Games & Comics On Hillary Clinton Comic”)

Groonk: Well that’s just…wait..what?

ICv2: Now along comes news that Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will be depicted on the cover of half of the copies of Papercutz’ Tales from the Crypt #8, which ships to retailers later this month. Governor Palin is shown brandishing a hockey stick and asking, “Didn’t we get rid of you guys in the 1950s” as the traditional narrators of EC Horror comics, the Crypt Keeper, the Old Witch, and the Vault-Keeper, flee in panic.

[…]

In her editorial Gaines Mifsud writes, “Tales from the Crypt is not endorsing any political candidates…nor are we attacking any candidates, but Tales does care about freedom and censorship.”

Groonk: Ho-lee crap, ICv2….
