Iron Week: Keeping it Simple with Tony Stark

This is sort of putting the cart before the horse, posting-wise. There’s a collection of vintage art posts just waiting to be shared but this last-minute Iron Week idea usurped the status quo. Consider this overshare a GNET Confidential moment.

Now, have a look at two different vintage minimal renditions of Iron Man as movie posters. Both dropped below the jump to create an illusion of reveal:

Iron Week: DJ Mike Relm’s IRON MAN 2 Remix, Favreau Approved!

All last week we were blasted with this IRON MAN 2 trailer on the Tee Vee. In between commercials for Attack of the Show to be precise. We searched high and low but couldn’t find the creator. That is until we casually strolled through the Whitechapel forum of two months ago. It’s said director @Jon_Favreau approves of DJ Mike Relm‘s trailer remix.

A click here. A Google there and this wild statement is revealed to be true.

From fan love to corporate acknowledgement. How’s that for the power of Tweets?

As usual, the trailer’s below the line.

Iron Week: Marvel’s IRON MAN App Looks to Redefine Branded Mobile Applications, Awesome

This mini-promotional Iron Week is picking up steam. The more we browse our Internet feeds. The more stuff we stumble upon.

Mashable reports Marvel and Zumboi got together and birthed a monstrously interactive free iPhone/iPod Touch app promoting that new IRON MAN II movie you may have heard about.

Zumobi designed the app to fit in with the existing Iron Man motif. The graphics and colors match the film and comic series, and elements of the apps control panel mimic the HUD (heads-up display) that resides inside Tony Stark’s Iron Man helmet.

From the main screen, users can choose to view videos, news, wallpapers, the origin of Iron Man, buy tickets and access other Marvel links.

The video clips feature a variety of TV commercials for Iron Man 2 and its tie-in sponsors (like Dr Pepper and Audi) and there are also links to clips from the film, which match up with what Marvel has been posting to its official YouTube (YouTube) page.

Mashable also talks about Marvels future plans with Android and that an iPad application is coming. More importantly, something we almost skipped over, this Iron man application extends beyond simply building hype for the IRON MAN II movie. The Iron Man app will continue to feed you information on all things Iron Man after the movie is but a (hopefully) pleasant memory.

IRON WEEK: Iron Man + AC/DC vs Hugh Grant, with Dirty Dancing on the Side

Q: What’s better than Iron Man flying around, saving the world?

A: Iron Man punching the crap out of Hugh Grant’s face!

You Tuber Reubenpac created a 3D Iron Man rig in Maya. Then he dropped his creation into random movies with an AC/DC backdrop. The Iron Man 3D model is great and wonderful. But after repeated watching of his clips in order to build this post we finally realized: it’s the AC/DC that sells the funny in these bits HARD.

Below the jump lay 3 of our favorite clips.

IRON WEEK Begins: Tyler Stout’s IRON MAN II Poster

It’s the comics week of weeks, people.

It is the week every fanboy who doesn’t work at Marvel or is not famous, or related to fame in any way, gets to see IRON MAN II. Afterwards, it’ll be the week of fanboys meticulously dissecting IRON MAN II and comparing why it’s sub-standard to IRON MAN.

There won’t be any fanfare from us during that week.

Here’s more art from Tyler Stout. He’s made more than one appearance on this site over the years. We expect this will not change much in the future.
