The Sunday Punch: Mimoco’s Batman USB Flash Drive
Posted by mistergroonk in Comics, Technology on January 9, 2011
We know there is more serious and pertinent Batman news out there in the Internets. But we were caught a bit short-handed. An overload of all the noise Islamic Batman is stirring in the greatly judgmental “comics internet” will be collected and touched on next Sunday.
For today enjoy the innocence of the Batman USB drive.
Watch: The RED Trailer. Helen Mirren with a Machine Gun! Thank You, @WarrenEllis, Thank You.

Sadly, we have not read Mr Ellis’ RED. This will have to change very soon.
Official Synopsis
Red is the story of Frank Moses , a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life. That is, until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah , endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Freeman, Malkovich and Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive.
What We Learned:
As we grow older, seeing well-aged professionals kick the snot out of wet-behind-the-ears whippersnappers becomes more poignant.
Why We’re Gonna Watch:
It’s right there in the post title. “Helen Mirren with a machine gun!” John Malkovich as a drugged out weapons expert, Morgan Freeman being Morgan Freeman, and Mary-Louise Parker being her sexy self are just gravy on that sandwich.
That’s right. A gravy sandwich!
When’s it coming?

New Head of DC Entertainment, Diane Nelson,Talks of What’s to Come
Posted by mistergroonk in Comics, Interviews, Movies on September 11, 2009
Amongst all the jibber-jabber business-speak and the usual questions of what’s to come under new management, we managed to find one morsel that piqued much interest.
MTV: Well, on that note, is there a certain character or area of DC that you feel is going to benefit greater than most from the new environment? Do you have a favorite character or title that, when DC Entertainment was first being conceived, popped into your head and made you think, “Yes! This property can finally get the attention it deserves!”
NELSON: That’s like asking me which of my children is my favorite. I’m not going to go there.
But I will say that Vertigo is an area of great interest to me. It is even less well tapped than other parts of DC, and could potentially offer amazing stories for our future television video game, digital and consumer products businesses. I’ll highlight that one, but it’s no less or more important than any of the other parts of DC.
You want to make movies from the Vertigo realm, you say? Might we suggest: Y the Last Man, Death and We3? Are they lofty goals? Sure. If you’re gonna aim, why not make it for the top?
Come to think of it, doesn’t the DC starshine still fall on the Milestone universe?
Oh, this could be great fun.
