Tuesday Tease: Wherein We Learn of the Indie Film INK
Posted by mistergroonk in Movies, Trailers on November 10, 2009
The slack tide is here. The fury of October is ended. Things weighing heavy on our minds: Turkey Day, the resurgence of that fat man who enslaves woodland creatures for his whims, and the coming of the dread year 2010.
In these days movies are in the back-mind, you see. There’s so much we haven’t seen and not enough new, interesting, flicks on the radar.
And then @C_Duncan mentions INK.
Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys Precocious Mystery Solvers, Meddlers

October 1st is here and what was once Ghost My Senses* becomes simply The Halloween Edition. All this month we’ll feature a post per day, every day. Each bit shall explore the monstrous, frightening, nostalgic, violent, Halloween-y or just plain creepifying corners of Internet life. At least they will be when we’re done with them.
Let’s begin, yes?:
The Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries TV Show Opening Theme
As a young groonk, we partook of mystery novels. Encyclopedia Brown was the favorite. EB was also the only series available in the public elementary school library the law forced us to attend. This did not detract from Brown’s awesome in our young eyes.
Then came afternoon mystery TV. The Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mysteries were one step above your basic Saturday morning Scooby Doo adventures. Three guesses whose ass was plopped on the living room floor in the middle of the day.

LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS are Exactly What You Expect
Posted by mistergroonk in LOL, Movies, Trailers, Video on January 6, 2009
LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS. Zod help me, it is *exactly* what it says on the tin. We need more movies of this ilk. In today’s world economy we’ve got to know what we’re getting into before we plop down $12 and devote a couple of hours to worship light and shadow in a dark room. That cost is $24+ if you’re not a loser, single guy who doesn’t get out much like, I dunno, me. The point is, movie$ co$t money$. Money to make. Money to watch. If we’re not watching, then they’re not making. We can’t have that now, can we?
We do not need hidden and/or somewhat vague meanings that must be sussed out from studious attentions. You hear me, Big Hollywood? We need more plots spelled out for us in the main titles.
You know what you’re stepping into with titles like that.
Our need for obviousness must be fed. Only the conspiracy of horror indie filmmakers are doing anything about it.
