Days Passing Like Minutes
Recollected and edited from the week of October 8-15th.
Friday
I got another A in my History class. I can?t express how much that class kicks ass…and it?s not just because I?m kicking ass in the class. Also, an online test scheduled for today was bumped to Sunday at midnight. So once again I stumble-fuck into a short reprieve.
Saturday
The test was bumped to Monday at 8 AM. More time for procrastination earned.
The entire was day was blown trying to install visual studio. As the day progresses, I utter a silent curse for every last bit of code or hardware that Microsoft has ever created, or ever will. I also swear that when I?m able, I?m dumping PC?s for Macs.
Sunday
I?m cramming for two school type deadlines. I?m experiencing an inordinate amount of trouble composing the words for my Major Authors final and the other is that damned .NET online test. If I didn?t need a day job that class would be by the wayside.
Monday
Burned through the night and took the test in the wee hours of the morn. Glad this day was empty cause I power slept through the whole mess.
Tuesday
In an effort to stay inspired, I took a trip to Birmingham?s Workplay Theatre to see Alice?s Misadventures in Wonderland. A movie was made in and around Birmingham. I didn?t get there in time to catch the first showing and it would have been a waste of time to drive around B?ham looking for ways to kill time, so I stayed and began to liquor meself up.
I bored of that, after one insanely expensive beer, so I borrowed a pen from the bartender and started sketching the new design for this site.
I?ve got to start carrying my pen and notebook again.
Writing, or doodling, in a bar must be the universal come-talk-to-Groonk signal ?cause some guy sitting a barstool over struck up a conversation. It turns out he?s a writer too, the only difference between us; he?s sent out scripts. Each of them met with rejection.
Being finished with my impromptu site design I was thankful for the time killing conversation.
We didn?t talk for long before I got the feeling that this writer was kind of a prick. He did have one bit of helpful info to impart. I forget how he phrased it but it basically amounted to, ?you have to finish your writing projects if you?re gonna get anywhere.?
Yeah, I know.
?Duh!?
But sometimes you have to hear it before it sets in. Even if it comes from idiots.
His ideas seemed viable and somewhat different. They were just not my cup of tea.
My movie is about to start. I wish the writer guy luck and enter the theatre. The first showing was a short about a group of kids who watch trains roll in and out of Birmingham. Least I think it was ?cause my mind fell asleep a quarter way into it.
The main event finally starts and was a damn good job.
Wednesday
More studying.
Thursday
I complete my write up for my history class around 3 AM. It took only an hour to do.
I?m a lazy bastard. I know this.
