It is not as bad as advertised. The US trailers would have you believe that I,Robot is another smart alecky Wil Smith roaming the city making bad one liners. Like a cross between Men in Black and Ahnuld in his 80?s heyday. It is better than that.
Although it?s not as smart as an Asimov tale, it is clever enough for a Hollywood movie. It even made use of the inherent flaw in the 3 laws. I should have given Alex Proyas more credit. Any director who was behind The Crow and Dark City should be given the benefit of the doubt.
What I hate, and love, most about movies are the goddamn trailers. Trailers can tease you, work you up into a frenzy to sit on your butt for 2 hours and watch some actors and actresses make more money. Or they false advertise. They bait and switch. Movies that give you that down-low geek tickle (see Phantom Menace) turn out in the long run to be crap. While flicks that are worth their salt don?t get the advertising or are tricksy in their trailer presentation (see I,Robot).
It?s like you pick up a girl in the bar, take her home, and come morning you find out she?s a whore and you have to pay for it. Oh, do you pay for it.
Enough of my ranting save up some dollars and watch a nice popcorn movie.
