Our most favorite part of the year’s end is here. DJ Earworm released his latest United State of Pop mashup on December 25. We were too busy getting filled up on turkey and other goodstuffs to share then. But now…

2011 gave us songs of regret and anger, pride and perseverance, and lots of fire.
When someone’s taken everything from you, what do you do?
WORLD GO BOOM

I’ve made some changes in the song selection process this year.
In efforts to better reflect the year, I have a system that draws from the weekly charts from throughout 2011 that ensures that all the late-breaking hits (such as “We Found Love” & “Sexy and I Know It”) are included in the 2011 mix.

Adele – Rolling In The Deep
Adele – Someone Like You
Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough
Bruno Mars – Grenade
Bruno Mars – The Lazy Song
Britney Spears – Till The World Ends
Cee Lo Green – F* You
Enrique Iglesias – Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)
Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks
Jennifer Lopez – On The Floor
Jeremih feat. 50 cent – Down On Me
Katy Perry – Firework
Katy Perry – E.T.
Katy Perry – Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
Lady Gaga – Born This Way

#MusicMonday: DJ Earworm’s 2010 United State of Pop. The Year of the Club.

Posted by mistergroonk in Just Freaking Neat, Music, Video on January 17, 2011

We are more than a bit late jumping on this one.

The now yearly tradition of DJ Earworm’s United State of Pop released early this 2011 as planned. What it does is mashup the previous year’s top 25 songs according to Billboard magazine.

In 2010, pop has gone into serious all-out party mode. In 2009 the music was encouraging us to pick ourselves back up after being knocked down again, and to rock out to some great dance music while you’re at it. This year’s music tells us to keep going now that we’re up and having fun. In fact, the fun seems to be in such overdrive that it borders on recklessness.

We’ve noticed the same patterns Earworm mentions. In fact, we’ve wondered what would happen if we tracked back to the year 2000 with the United State of Pop news in mind.

Get on that Internet.

Until then enjoy 2010, 2009, and 2008 in a state of pop.
