This is Halloween: THE THING The Musical. THE THING as Told by The Thing. Are you The Thing?

We’ve been stockpiling posts the last few months, faithful reader. By doing this we gain an upper hand in content filled posts but we lose out on being the first with the story. We can live with that. The last few weeks have been THE THING heavy as you can imagine.

The prequel to 1980s John Carpenter’s THE THING focuses on what happens at the Norwegian camp. We have a hope that the new movie isn’t just a retread of all the old gags that Carpenter pioneered in the ’80s. We have a fear that it will just be a blatant money grab via brand recognition. Of course, we’re gonna watch it anyway.

What we have for you today is three things relating to THE THINGverse. One musical. One totally downloadable audio book. One comedy bit by a new-to-us sketch comedy group, Reckless Tortuga.

Jump below the cut to see them all.

Tuesday Tease: The Coen Brothers to Release TRUE GRIT, The Dude *is* Rooster Cogburn

Official Synopsis

Mattie Ross, a 14-year-old girl, undertakes a quest to avenge her father’s death at the hands of a drifter named Tom Chaney. Ross persuades an alcoholic marshal named Rooster Cogburn to join her in tracking down Chaney.

What We Learned: You can never go wrong with simple revenge tales. We thought Josh Brolin would shy away from anything reminding of that Jonah Hex movie attempt last spring. Johnny Cash enhances any western movie experience.

Why We’ll Watch: This is how TRUE GRIT should have been done… is what we’d like to say. The sad truth is we’ve not seen John Wayne’s version of TRUE GRIT. The main reason to watch this is The Dude as Rooster Cogburn as directed by the Brothers Coen.

When’s it coming?
December 25, 2010.

2 for Tuesday Tease: Wild Things have been Filmed, Looks Awesome!

This week’s tease comes a week after its premiere. In essence, this tease is for the slow Internet surfer. Or, more to the point, the slow internet poster(meaning “us.”)

When we recall the (g)olden days of Kid Groonk. We think on sitting on our bedroom floor and reading WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. We wondered why Max would act so douchey to his mom. When he was sent to his room without dinner we felt bad for him. The trip to the island roused our jealousy. The slice of delicious chocolate cake, on the last page, made everything alright.

Viewing that trailer gave us those exact feelings from days of old.
