He Doesn't Want Me to be Spiritually Retarded

I don’t get many comments from real people. I get tons of spam. Definitely not lacking in comment spam.

That’s all well and good…really. It still freaks me out that people actually run across and read this noise in the first place.

Recently I posted this on the Newsmine: The Mormon Cult Moment.

And would you believe it, I actually rattled someone’s cage a bit.

Here’s the letter:

Sometimes we tend to think temporally in place of divinely. It is not the church or man who gave the commandment for only men to hold the priesthood but Jesus Christ himself. This is a well accepted fact by most LDS members who are entitled to revelation from the Holy Ghost of what is of divine origin and what is of the philosophy of man. Women jointly hold the priesthood with their spouses and are considered equals in the bonds of matrimony in the church but they are not ordained to act in the name of God here on the earth.

It is pretty plain in the eyes of God that only worthy males can hold the priesthood. You are not questioning the church but you are questioning God and if you sincerely pray with real intent and ask God if it is true in the name of Jesus Christ…he would reveal it to you as well. While your praying you might ask if The Church is true as well. If you do, the Holy Ghost will manifest the truth of it to you. If you do not receive a witness it is true then your intent was lacking or you are misleading yourself.

I have been a seeker of truth for most of my 51 years and finally stumbled onto this church through divine guidance. Actually for most of those 51 years I was half heartedly seeking truth as was palatable to my will and not God’s will. That is what the September Six are doing…trying to change God commandments to their own will. Even you when you pass through this life to the spirit world will have this revealed to you if you don’t do it on your own now. I would emplore you to gain as much knowledge as you can on the commandments of God the Father and Jesus Christ so you don’t enter into the spirit world spiritually retarded.

Now, I figure this is a “dump and run” deal but I couldn’t let that go unchallenged.

That’d be un-American of me. So I replied to dear old Frank:

Ok. Question:

Why, in all his wisdom, would Jesus Christ take such a misogynist view? For that matter why would the Almighty want, much less need, to keep women from preaching His word? Does the presence of a uterus somehow negate a woman’s ability to lead or inspire?

I’ve heard the “separate but equal” argument before and you want to know something? It didn’t work then and it especially doesn’t work in the “shared priesthood” sense.

If you are to follow the basic Christian belief that God created everything and that he also created man and woman equally in His image, there’s no sense in the division between the sexes.

In fact, when you consider that idea, any such division is unnatural and must be man-made.

I’m glad that after 51 years of searching that you’ve finally found a faith in which you can believe. Not everyone can count themselves as lucky.

Congratulations.

But as Mike pointed out, President Gordon B. Hinckley himself said, “I think the Lord expects us to think.” You should always question what’s put before you. Otherwise you’re a mere robot following BASIC programming.

As I understand it Shintoism believes that every thing on this Earth has a spirit.

Many Native Americans believe something similar.

All forms of the Christian belief have sublimated this idea into the shape of the Holy Ghost.

In my eyes all of those ideas are fine and dandy. Whatever gets you out of bed in the morning. But you must, at times, look past the literal text and seek the deeper meaning. The true meaning.

Personally, I’ve come to think that we’re all projections of a Universe trying to figure itself out. Are there flaws in this idea? Of course! But I acknowledge those flaws and look closer at the world around me and inside myself.

According to you I run the chance of entering the spirit world “spiritually retarded”. I hear that the special folks among us have a God all their own, so according to you I’ll get a front seat short-bus ride into the afterlife.

What a nice thing to say.
