Why is it when I say find a different way to solve a problem… a way other than violence…people think I mean we’re supposed to sit around and take punches to the face until our eyes swell and blister?
Why can’t we be that evolved society you see in fairy tales and sci-fi?
Maybe that’s why, “You’re living in a fairy tale,” is such a derisive remark.
Ghandi defeated the British empire through non-violence.
Martin Luther King preached change through non-violence.
Maybe the only way to follow a path of non-violence is to not have any trace of power. By power I mean the usual king of something, president of whatever, holds-all-the-keys-to-the-weapons-cache type of power.
Now that I think on it, doesn’t the bible mention something about rotatiing cheeks?
The irony of the situation is, I am the last person to be preaching anti-violent anything.
I must be getting old. Mellowing.
Or maybe I’m talking out of my ass like 90% of the world’s population.
I don’t know.
I’m going to run.
I’m thinking way too much for it to be 12:30 AM. Th enext post will be abou tthe L.A. journey, I promise.
