The Gothika Connection

A coincidence is when God performs a miracle and decides to remain anonymous.

In a matter of weeks, a sizable chunk of my friends have watched Gothika. Or a movie I also like to call “Halle Berry blesses the audience with many, many shots of her fine ass walking around an insane asylum”.

Gothika was awesome for the first hour. The mood, the music, and the questioning of Berry’s sanity were all above excellence. The ending disappointed me. That’s all I’ll say on it cause lots of people hate spoilers and I don’t need to add another reason for folks to hate me.

I’ll only say that my reversal would have taken a different but familiar angle.

Josh saw it the first week it was released. Gullotta viewed it recently. I was oot and aboot with Dunc! and Hoops last Saturday when we decided to visit the local Blockbuster and rent whatever was available. A rental that turned out to be Gothika. The very next day 7d had the unexplainable urge to rent Gothika and watch the fine-ness known as Halle Berry.

For a movie that I had no plans on seeing, it sure did get a lot of views in a mere few weeks of release. Maybe this Gothika Connection gives credence to Jung‘s idea of the collective unconscious. Or maybe it was just a grand coincidence and I’m overthinking the whole situation.

I’d place a huge check mark on the latter.
