Spree

I like Spree. Those sometimes chewy and chalky/bitter candies were damn nice to pop in your mouth when you didn’t want a real piece of candy. You know, like Snickers or Whatchamacallit.

Sprees worked best when you didn’t want a long lasting sucking candy. You have a speech to make in about 5 minutes but feel you need a quick sugar rush before the show? A spree is johnny on the spot to fill your need. They were a good temporary fix when real candy wasn’t needed.

Right now, I’m listening to the Polyphonic Spree. Their website loops three or four of their “songs.” At this moment, I’m kinda digging what I’m hearing. The Light & Day cut stands out the most.

I just watched the Light & Day video. God, that is a weird mess. It looks like there are around twenty members in this…I guess they’re a band. The entire group is decked out in white robes. They smile a lot. Over-pontifications are aplenty. Man, they sure do smile a lot. I think they’re a cult.

This peppy-feelgood-harmonic groove is lolling me into some kind of cheerful-sugar-induced stupor. I bet they’re the kind of folk who would play free concerts in the park to spread their kind of joy to the world. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that any product that has the word ‘spree’ in it is good for those times you don’t want anything real to digest. But if the Polyphonic Spree ever offered me kool aid, you just know I’d be pouring that junk into the nearest plant.
