The Grey Day

Groonk.net went grey for a day last February.

The requirements were that only the main page go grey. Which was easy enough for me, since I use a splash entry page.

Familiar Roads

Take one photo of the road to my childhood home. Add one “viewscreen” design for this site.

Splice together and admire the desired effect:

The Old Days

This logo is two years old. It came about cause I watched a crapload of HBO. I now watch an assload of HBO and I’d like to think I could do a better homage these days.

Kill Groonk: Volume 1

My tribute to the first…

Kill Groonk: Volume 2

My love for Kill Bill borders on crazed. This particular KB:vol2 tribute brand went through two vastly different designs before I settled on this one.

kill is love

Easter's a comin'

Tell your teacher s/he's a fool

It’s April Fools. A holiday I don’t give a whit about.

Adult Swim did a damn funny thing on their program block last night. They drew funny moustaches on random characters faces. You were rolling along with some funny, normal plot hijinks and… BAM! ..there was a moustache on Leela or Bender, or the Shikon Jewel. Or there’s a mariachi hat on some random crow in Witch Hunter Robin. Which only improved that show’s watchability.

In “tribute” to their hilarity, I did my own thing/rip-off.

I need to start thinking ahead for this funny stuff. I’m sure the Williams Street gang have neverending rip-out-your-eyes meetings for their gimmicks but that’s no excuse for me. I need to bore myself to oblivion and get ahead of the game.

Or something like that.

In the Beginning

A little more than a year ago, groonk.net was born. After serious birthing pains called laziness and bullheadedness, I got off my ass and got this show on the road. Odd that it was the exact same night my fellow Americans began fighting the Second Gulf War.

The format back then was a little shaky but I’m sure you can figure out what I was up to.

The same goes for the infamous and quite accidental groonk.net logo.

It began with this logo and pithy remark:

Not what I was going for initially but it struck me as damn cool so I built on top of it. Over the next few months, I displayed more laziness by enlarging the image and simply replacing the white space with various movie images. These are a few of my favorites:

Nothing spectacular but they worked for me. Over time, I became bored with that format and began to experiment.

To be continued…

Operation: Brand

My portfolio of groonk.net logos begins here with the St Patrick’s Day brand. A day late and a dollar short. It’s nothing like the image I was preparing but it’ll do.

Click for the full brand in another window.

I created the splash page to practice my logo branding skills. In the world of capitalism, it’s all about the brand.
