Finally

Words fail to describe how tired I was of looking at my Red Panda splash.

I finally got off my butt and did something about it.

GDN Cafe

This image is over 2 years old.

I haven’t read The Incredible Hulk comic in years, but I dug this cover so much that I went to my local comic store and tracked it down.

Many months before all of that happened, I was toying with putting my mark on things:

Damnit, Groonknet

Remember when people could not stop talking about Janet’s boob? Notice that no one seems to give a damn now?

Adult Swim recreated the event with Net savvy. I took their genius a step further.

G 13

The previous Friday the 13th prompted this extremely rushed idea.

To see with Groonkly Eyes

For some reason, this logo received lots of laughs and praise from friends.

Order of the Groonk

I had many questions about what in the hell this image is supposed to be.

It is a phoenix taken from the cover of a Korean printing(seen below) of JK Rowling’s latest book, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix“.

I had so many plans for that logo. The ‘groonk.net’ was going to be bathed in fire which in turn would re-light that image of the phoenix. As with many of my projects, I never got around to finishing it. Not before the launch of the fifth book, anyway. What you see above is what I settled on.

Memorial Day 2003

I had forgotten about last year’s Memorial Day logo.

Swell, Mr G.

While I continue to prepare my little views on life behind the scenes, let’s pick up this section with a few more old branding logos.

Harley Quinn was a Bruce Timm black and white sketch I borrowed from his site a few years ago. I put some color in her cheeks and outfit then I sat her butt on top of a prototype logo I was toying with.

What is Red Panda Studios?

It?s an experiment. A few months ago I was wondering how can I create the several comic series that I had in mind. My main obstacle was artistic. I can?t draw for crap. So I run the problem over and over in my head, like I do any idea that I?m hell-bent on doing. The answer finally came to me. It was as simple as waking in the morning.

I have a digital camera; why not use it to help tell my stories?

And so I had my answer.

But that still doesn?t explain what RPS is, does it? RPS is me roaming around the streets of Huntsville with my Olympus D-390 digital camera looking like a big dork. I take pictures. I create a layout and write the words. That?s all there is.

Some stories will be multi-part series but most will be one-shots. All will be true. And one special day they will freshly posted at regular intervals.

Sidenote: The last few weeks I’ve been dealing with problems in real life. Those problems aren’t over but the need to write and be creative in general is overpowering. So I’m back for the time being.
