I learn something new every week:
Welcome to “Ask a Filmmaker,” a weekly IMDb column devoted to your questions and concerns about the filmmaking process. Joining us as guest columnists are screenwriter John August (Go, Charlie’s Angels), director Penelope Spheeris (The Decline of Western Civilization, Wayne’s World) and cinematographer Oliver Stapleton (My Beautiful Laundrette, The Cider House Rules, The Shipping News). …tune in each week to see what the pros have to say.
Just a small snippet of Opener of the Ways, my new favorite short story by Richard Kadrey.
“Why is it always seven?” Margaret asked. “Seven deadly sins. Seven virtues. Seven pillars of wisdom. Seven lines on a grave to erase the sins of the dead.”
“Seven segments of a rainbow,” said Anubis, in a clear very un-doglike voice. “Seven souls.”
“Is that why? Because we have seven souls?”
“Perhaps. Four parts of mortals are connected to Earth, three to Heaven. If you add up the numbers one through seven, you get twenty-eight, the same number as the cycle of the moon. Of course, it could be simpler. It could be that everyone in the universe hates six, so the gods just rounded up one.”

THE STATE MTV SHOW
has never been rerun or released on video (aside from the “Skits and Stickers” compilation). MTV is currently developing a new State DVD.
Nathan is going to be a guest at Dragon*Con.

(www.mutablerealms.com), the world’s first Ultra Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, sporting the ability to support simultaneously tens of thousands of players in a single seamless world. An Alpha version of Wish was shown at E3 in May to great response, and goes Beta with 5-10 thousand users this December with plans to ship late next year. He is currently finishing up a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Be nice to him or he will slay you with his sarcastic wit.
