The Forever War
I believe i may have to make another investment soon.

If everything I’ve heard about the power of Joe Haldeman’s, The Forever War is true. I can’t miss out on reading that book.

A Fantastic Metropolis Sampler
Since its inception in October 2001, Fantastic Metropolis has been engaged in what is part of a permanent revolution against sterile, stereotypical fiction by encouraging the cross-pollination of ideas between genres and cultures, while showcasing speculative literature written by uniquely talented and creative people from around the world.
Part experiment, part an attempt to reach a vaster audience, this book collects a selection of the fiction, nonfiction, and interviews published during the first year of the Fantastic Metropolis website.

Sandman #50
You may have already seen this article in today’s Washington Post on the glories of Baghdad’s past at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A56350-2003Mar19.html. I couldn’t help but think about your story Ramadan, and Haroun al-Raschid’s desire to keep his glorious city just as he knows it. I think that it’s appropriate for all of us to remember that what is now Iraq was once the paramount center for learning and science. — Laura Gosling
I find myself remembering someone telling me off on Genie because, according to whoever was telling me off, Baghdad was virtually unscathed in the Gulf War, and I had the kid who heard the story limping home across a bombsite. I think I’d rather that they had been right and I had been, and remained, wrong. Right now it looks like Sandman 50 will have been more accurate than I knew. –Neil
That was found on Neil Gaiman’s journal yesterday.
The Washington Post article can be found here.
If you haven’t read Sandman #50, go to your local bookstore and ask for the Fables and Reflections trade paperback by name.

They Rule is a website that allows you to create maps of the interlocking directories of the top 100 companies in the US.
It is currently out of date but the site says it will be updated round mid 2003.
Go see who the 7 most powerful people in the US and possibly the world were as of 2001.

A New Dude
Dude Studios has done it. They’ve re-created each Star Wars film in under 5 minutes. See A New Dude, The Bad Dudes Strike Back, Return of the Dude, and The Phantom Dude. The first three (or middle three if you are going to be THAT kind of a geek about it) lack the flavor of the Star Wars mythos. But hey, it’ pretty damn funny.
The Phantom Dude actually makes more sense in it’s shortened form.
Mr. Lucas, please keep that in mind.

Corner of my Mind
She’s returned to my winamp player. She haunts me with her sultry voice. She rocks me with her funklicious groove. She has red hair. She has chops(that’s skillz to you 21st century kids). She should be in your player too.
