Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg Geek Bait Final Entry to Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, ‘The World’s End’

Edgar Wright got chatty on his Twitter the other day. A Simon Pegg(photo seen below) laden tweet let lose the possible name for the last movie in the Blood and Ice-Cream Trilogy. That movie’s name being THE WORLD’S END.

This trilogy of Cornetto ice-cream connected films began with SHAUN OF THE DEAD(red strawberry Cornetto) and followed up with HOT FUZZ(blue Classic flavour). The last one, THE WORLD’S END has the green mint chocolate chip distinction.

Wright’s single tweet…

… has launched more than a dozen geek news sites into speculation mode and has made this long time Wright/Pegg/Frost fan positively giddy.

In fact, we’d like to take this moment to formally submit our services to these comedy masters to work on THE WORLD’S END film crew.

We’d work cheap.

Just pay us in ice-cream.

Simon Pegg Shares International Teaser Trailer for PAUL, Finally!

<br /><a href="" target="_new"title="Exclusive: Paul - Trailer" class="external external_icon">Video: Exclusive: Paul &#8211; Trailer</a>

Official Synopsis

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever.

What We Learned: It’s very nice seeing Simon Pegg and Nick Frost on the big screen doing big comedy again. The alien design for Paul is HIDEOUS. Seriously, we’re afraid to take a nap after seeing that guy/being. And giving Paul Seth Rogen’s voice only made him more frightening. We’re about to down the nearest bottle of lite beer after seeing that.

Why We’ll Watch: Finally. Finally , after a year and a half of waiting, PAUL is going to be released.

When’s it coming?
March 2011 in the USA.
February 2011 for the UK. (Hey, British friends, you mind putting us up for a weekend?)

Lack of funds denied us the ability to cover SDCC 2010 in person. Luckily, some of our favorite geek news sites, and Twitter feeds, did a damn good job of covering all the bases. Rather than repost every damn thing we found interesting, why not browse through there special SDCC sections.

Lots more below the line:

Tuesday Tease: What is PAUL?

PAUL is a cross country nerd-infused road trip with aliens. Two of these aliens are British in nature(Simon Pegg and Nick Frost). The third alien is from outer space.

What is PAUL? is the official production blog for Pegg and Frost written cross-country comedy vehicle. Above we’ve provided the Flickr slide show from Frost’s July pictures.

Sources close to us inform that the PAUL script is most satisfying on multiple levels. You’d better get used to us talking PAUL because it’s gonna be our focus in the weeks and months to come til it hits the silver screen.

New Trek Trailer Attacks: James T. Kirk Tells You His Name.

It has been decided, amongst those in control of this site (meaning me), that the area of interest this month shall be the movies. In part, it will be about a few that are out now. The other part shall be on the future flicks. Both require that trailers be available for the showing. Any opinions written afterward will be about the trailer alone and not the movie.

Yes, the month is almost done. I figure that’s more than enough days to cover the films that look worth throwing $10 at.

Let’s start with this new Star trek trailer everyone’s jawing about.

On the surface, the “wow factor” can’t be ignored. James T. Kirk: action man. Spock: a soul divided. The rest didn’t get enough lines to make a snap analyses. Although, Simon Pegg as Scotty is growing on me.

The geek in me fights hard at the logic of building a starship, that is not known for hanging out under the atmospheric veil of planetoids, on the freaking ground. We’ll tie that guy up for now. For now, I’ll say my interest is piqued, Mr Abrams. My wallet will open for you come next year’s zombie thaw.
