Moment of Who: Texts from the TARDIS & The Hub & The Sexy TARDIS

Not one. Not two. But three. Three Doctor Who related Tumblrs. Two of them take advantage of the “Texts from ___” meme that we’ve been missing out on. Texts from Pawnee, you’re next on our Tumblr Watch list.

They also harken to fumetti or photonovels, if you will. Photonovels use stills from film or television along with narrative text or word balloons to tell a story. So yeah. Comics!

The odd lady out on this list is the Sexy TARDIS Tumblr. It takes advantage of the much loved(by us anyway) Neil Gaiman written Dr Who episode that aired this year, “The Doctor’s Wife.”

Texts from The Hub

What Is It?: Some avid TORCHWOOD fan(this remains hard for us to believe those really exist) took Texts From last Night and applied them to scans from the DOCTOR WHO spinoff TORCHWOOD for comedic effect. We gotta say this is the funnest that show has ever been. This includes all the unintentional laughs. But it does not include the “Children of Earth” miniseries which we found quite enjoyable.

Sexy TARDIS

What Is It?: As we mentioned above, Neil Gaiman wrote an episode for the 11th Doctor called “The Doctor’s Wife.” In that gem of television we learn that The Doctor calls the TARDIS sexy when they are alone. Fandom has latched on to this idea with gusto and ran with it. The SexyTARDIS- Tumblr is all about “Sexy” doing its damnedest to take you home for the night. If you know what we mean. Basically it’s inside Who jokes nerds tell themselves during that game of D&D on a Friday night.(This fits us to a ‘t’ only the games are on a Sunday night.)

Mr Black explains:

The guy in the dark says, â€œBecause when you say you like Obama, thatâ€™s the same thing to me as saying â€˜Heil Hitler.â€™â€

The audience, predictably, starts booing. I ask them to please calm down, that I will handle this in a mature way. While I am saying this to the audience, I am thinking, How do I possibly handle this in a mature way.

So the audience settles down, and I turn to the gentleman and say, â€œSir, I say with this all due respect – you are a fucking moron.â€

And then I kind of lost my shit.

The Chive Brags About Trolling The Internet…Again. Internet Responds with Hilarity, Truth.

The Chive trolled the Internet(and us) yesterday with the fumetti of the girl who “quit her job” via a whiteboard email. Why were we taken in so easily by this? Maybe it’s because times are tough and many of us cubicle rats have bosses that are “garbage diSpencers.” Or maybe because reality is strange without it having to be tainted by childish pranks.

Don’t misunderstand. That whole deal was/is more entertaining than anything Internet attempts on April Fools. But reality(we’re looking at you, Steven Slater) is stranger than anything they could ever imagine.

Today The Chive responded about the “wild ride” with another fumetti.

Just know that that Internet backlash can be a bitch.

Try as we might we can’t block celebrity news from celebrities we don’t give a whit about. Thanks to The Soup we learned of Gibson’s latest verbal stupidity vomit. The real surprise came when folks couldn’t believe Gibson remained the same ass-hat that he was back in his sugartit years.

His racism was nice and sweet back then.

A BP Minute: British Petroleum’s Extravagant Oil Spill PR Campaign. Tries to Spin Crap to Gold.

Fast Company shared, on Tuesday, the latest BP effort to save their name.

Among the various PR efforts that BP is engaged in, they’ve apparently sent out a “reporter” to file missives about the company’s efforts to stem the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.

And what “Paula Kolmar” is writing tips well over the line of self-parody, into some kind of bizarro world where bullshit smells like puppies and champagne–and where cleaning up the oil spill while being slathered in tar balls and oil fumes is a bit like being embraced by Fabio in a grocery-store romance novel.

Get BP’s bullshit straight from the source, if you like.

We thought the words of BP Reporter “Paula Kolmar” fit perfectly with images from the Gulf Shore. So we spun-up the old Photoshop and threw together 3 macros for the occasion.
