Lack of funds denied us the ability to cover SDCC 2010 in person. Luckily, some of our favorite geek news sites, and Twitter feeds, did a damn good job of covering all the bases. Rather than repost every damn thing we found interesting, why not browse through there special SDCC sections.

The @OldSpice Guy( @IsaiahMustafa ) Wants to Be Luke Cage. @Marvel, Make This Happen.
Posted by mistergroonk in Comics, Intertube Madness, Interviews, Just Freaking Neat, Marketing, Music on July 14, 2010
It appears Isaiah Mustafa is hitting critical mass. His hilarious, energy infused, Old Spice commercials has gathered enough fans that Old Spice, the company, continued the series.
We began this Mustafa post a few months ago. This was the first time his commercial gained popularity. Over the months we’ve gathered more information on the commercial and the man himself. It is time, faithful reader, for another post overload.
The Isaiah Mustafa Campaign to Be Luke Cage
Traveling cartoonist, Ryan Estrada, tweeted and drew this to Mustafa yesterday.
Marvel Studios, consider the following a casting reel for Mustafa as Luke Cage.

Overload: Disney Buys Marvel for $4 Billion. Did You Hear Disney Bought Marvel? Disney+Marvel = BFF
Posted by mistergroonk in Comics, Marketing, Movies, The Future on September 8, 2009
Delaying a time-sensitive blog post is never a good idea. This, almost never, stops us from doing just that. One week and a day later, we’ve amassed a monster list of everything Disney/Marvel related from that time. More posts on the matter will follow. For now we offer fair warning, this is a biggun’.
“Face it, Tigger, you hit the jackpot!” —@BrianReed
It was all anyone remotely associated with comics could/can talk about. Our TweetDeck’s ‘comics’ filter can attest to that. Some fanboys and comics professionals greeted the news with bear hugs of love or at least their facsimile of this. The rest jumped out of their knickers.
Now that the dust has settled a bit, creating a Link Overload of the Disney/Marvel related conversation seemed like the thing to do.
Mr Joke Funny People
so I got this phone call from Joe Quesada and it was just the sound of him rubbing himself with money and now I am confused–@WarrenEllis
Jokes were made. So many jokes. People just wouldn’t stop with the jokes. Then came the many, many image mashups.
Wherein We Watch the WATCHMEN Watch You
Posted by mistergroonk in Marketing, Movies, Trailers on March 3, 2009
The golden week has arrived. The time when all of the lowly citizens of this great nation get to sit back and judge…ahem..watch THE WATCHMEN. In the time leading up to this comics/cinema magic, we’ve kept a close eye on the viral marketing strategies the PTBs unleashed upon us. In no particular order, of the ones known to us, these are the favorites:
Since sex is the fuel that drives The Internet’s engine (at least it is according to the GNET’s MyBlogLog stats) we’ll start in the obvious places.
The official Dr Manhatten condoms.
Vulture breaks the shocking news that not only is Dr Manhattan really naked in WATCHMEN, but he now sports a large, circumcised dingus, unlike the small, uncut version in the comic. Says a spy:There is indeed shitloads of blue wang. And it’s huge.
Lit-crit or no, Vulture, if “blue wang” is all you care about regarding faithful adaptations, then “blue wang” is all you’re gonna see.
