Moment of Who: 2010 Dr Who Intro, SNES Style. Listen to It!
Posted by mistergroonk in Just Freaking Neat, Music, Television, Versus on May 25, 2011
Doctor Octoroc has done it again. We noticed his digital escapades when he did the 8-Bit Dr Horrible experience. Now he’s moved on to our other favorite non-medical physician, Doctor Who.
A Super Nintendo style recreation of the newest “Doctor Who” intro sequence. I arranged the track in FL Studio using SNES soundfonts from Chrono Trigger, A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy IV and F-Zero. If you’re wondering how I got that wizzing sound in the beginning, it was a combination of “Lavos” sound effects from Crono Trigger 🙂
We love what he did here. Hell, we think it’s better than the 11th Doctor’s proper intro.
Dropped below the cut is Doctor Octoroc’s version and the official version. Tell us what you think in the comments.

#MusicMonday: 8-Bit Dr. Horrible, Experience the Ph.D in Horribleness Through Gamer Eyes

Joss Whedon’s 2008 web serial Dr Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog is a love that will not die. Nor should it. We bore witness to the fan made prequel HORRIBLE TURN and deemed it worthy.
Now lay your eyes on Doctor Octoroc‘s 8-Bit Dr Horrible. This is not a shot-for-shot rehash of the Dr Horrible experience. It is an 8-bit game-like adaptation that’s damn amusing to watch. Acts 1 and 2 are done. One of the special moments we love is seeing Capt Hammer throw the car at Horrible’s face.
We can’t wait to see Act 3.
Update: Act 3 is in and it is *love.*
Watch the drama unfold on the main site or look below the jump to the handy playlist we made just for you.
BTW you can download the 8-bit soundtrack if you like. Dr Horrible would not be a musical without that.

Thankfully, they’re using Bryan Lee O’Malley’s art for the Scott Pilgrim video game. We’ve given Michael Cera a temporary pass at playing the titular character based on the epic teaser trailer released last week. Controlling his epic digital battles would be another matter altogether.
The 8-bit punk band Anamanaguchi provides the music for the Scott Pilgrim video game tie-in. Give them a listen below the jump.
