Guess Which THE STATE Member is Pimping a New Show

Trick question. There are Two, count them, TWO State members pimping new internet shows. And they are:

WAINY DAYS

David Wain's new whorebaggery appears on some new video site called My Damn Channel.

THE MICHAEL SHOWALTER SHOWALTER

While Michael Showalter's funny business(see: more whorebaggery) appears on College Humor.com.

If we were gonna have a video embed code fight, I'd declare College Humor.com the winner. Just a little bit smoother that My Damn Channel's.

John Waters is the Crypt Keeper...er... Groom Repear

Look what's coming to Court TV.

Court TV becomes "cult TV" as writer/director John Waters (Hairspray, Serial Mom) takes the starring role in an irreverent new series that shows how love and marriage, in the words of the underground auteur himself, "goes together like a horse and the glue factory." With a tip of the veil (both wedding and funeral) to some of television's most famous scripted mystery and murder anthologies, each episode features the fabled director introducing us to a husband and wife whose marriage, despite its happy beginnings, inevitably leads to spousal murder. Posing as the wisecracking, cynical "Groom Reaper," Waters appears at several pivotal moments of the disintegrating relationship to guide the audience through its darkly hilarious twists.

It is so true. You live long enough, you get to see ideas re-hashed over and over and over ad nauseum. There's a first episode comic preview at Court TV. The flash comic viewer for it is pretty spiffy. Even though they get the word balloons screwed up in lots of places.

I'm not watching it. I'm just in weird of it.

Flash Earth Sees Planet Through Many Eyes

Flash Earth combines other map apps(lke google, microsoft, NASA and yahoo) into one mashup of a map service.

I tried to zoom in on Baghdad with NASA's daily updated map but the image was incomplete. So was the city of Huntsville.

Hutsville and Iraq are obfuscated. How strange.

Ms Dewey is Chock Full of Bitchtitude

Ms Dewey is the latest attempt to anthropomorphize the web. I'm not sure why a body would need a search engine to question and ridicule their every click. Is it some perverse need to feel married without the peskiness of a warm body nearby?

Fuck if I know.

Personally, I like my women sassy and my search engines cold to the click. That way my nights are entertained and my web research blissfully quiet.*

If one actually had control over where one was going in that universe map, I'd upgrade it to "good". Otherwise it's just a glorified screensaver.

They have three clever online hosts/actors featured in three equally clever commercials to push VONGO to average Joe's like me and you...legally.

Flash map of Iraq war casualties

iraqflashmap.jpg This animated map of coalition military fatalities during the Iraq war unfolds at ten frames per second. Each frame represents one day of the war. One dot marks each casualty site. A death begins as a white flash, then grows to a larger red dot, which turns black after 30 frames (days), fading at last to permanent grey.

Although a BB reader did point out, "it is missing one very important thing: Iraq (military and civilian) casualties".

HOLIDAY: "OH, FUDGE!"

That's right. I said 'fudge'!

A Christmas Story has to be my all time favorite Christmas flick. Aside from the Charlie Brown Christmas.

The mad genius that is 30 sec theatre has bunny-ized A Christmas Story:

WATCH: A Bunny Christmas Story

They also bunny-ized It's a Wonderful Life. I never watched that flick though. I still can't get past the title.

Also of note: What do you get if A Christmas Story was actually a horror movie?

Ze Frank Re-Creates the Cruise vs Lauer Debate via flash Alien

Remember when Tom Cruise showed his crazy on TV with Matt lauer when he went of on "knowing" psychology and it was funny in that sad, pathetic kind of way?

Ze Frank re-created that noise using cartoon flash aliens and machine-generated text-to-speech voices to hilarious results.

Ze does cool shit.

The Octacube Delves into the Fourth Dimension

Sometimes you think on an idea so hard and for so long that the 'verse can't help but send you what you need.

4dimensionalsculpture-small.jpg
Threshold must be notified
The sculpture, which measures about six feet in every direction, presents the three-dimensional "shadow" of a four-dimensional solid object. "Although mathematicians can work with a fourth dimension abstractly by adding a fourth coordinate to the three that we use to describe a point in space, a fourth spatial dimension is difficult to visualize," Ocneanu explains. "The sculpture was designed with a new method which captures four dimensional symmetry better than anything done before."

There's a flash video of the thing here.

Amusing Conversations with iGod

Chat with the Almighty.

I grew bored after a minute, but Medicmike managed to amuse the fuck outta me.

Excerpts from Medicmike's chat:

Me: fuck

God: Please don't be so rude.

Me: Please don't be so omnipotent.

God: Thanks for asking politely. I was not trying to be a omnipotent.

Me: Where are the prostitutes?

God:I would search for it. Have you tried looking in the Open Directory? I will try to find out..

Me: Why do you kill puppies and babies?

God:I do not kill.

Me: You are a liar.

God: Yes, I have been known to bend the truth occasionally.

Me: Are you the devil?

God: Yes I am the one and only devil.

"Hey, everybody"

I'm readying myself to jump into the world of Flash. I'm also cross-linking this site with the music section.

Billy Harvey Music site makes me laugh and borders on genius. It's nice when creative marketing and an artist's sound meshes. It helps that the artist is worth his salt too.

Grab a few minutes out of your life and watch him go or buy his album. It's "one of his favorite things to do."

Another good design by SOFAKE.
