If you missed it, you’re like us. Last Thursday God placed his finger down upon the Earth in Five Points, Huntsville and scratched that itch that’s been bothering him for some time now.
But seriously, folks, a fricking TORNADO skimmed through the Rocket City last week! Where were we? Safe and snug at home. Where was our friend Duncan? Smack dab in the middle of Dangerville. We can’t help but to be a little jealous. Everything happens to Duncan. Sadly he did not photograph what could have been his last night on this Earth. happily he, and the others with him, are very much okay. Far as we can tell, all our local friends survived the twister.
The Flickr pool Alabama Thunderstorms has a wealth of awesome shots of last week’s storm. Flickr user Tyler P. has the best so far.
There’s a whole mess of pictures and video on Al.com: Huntsville tornado: Photos, videos and damage reports
UAH weather scientists want your pictures of the storm. They hope the data will help to better predict future tornadoes:
Anyone with pictures of the tornado, storm cloud, hail or other byproducts of the storm, or with questions, should e-mail them to: pictures@nsstc.uah.edu
Researchers must know as precisely as possible where the photographer was when taking the picture – not just a street address, but whether it was in a front yard, back yard, from a garage or wherever – and what direction the camera was facing. They must also know the time the picture was taken and the photographer’s name and contact information.
They also request that only one or two photos be sent at a time to avoid overloading the computer servers.
