Tuesday Tease: The New MAD MEN Season 5 Promo Poster is In, Don Draper Ogles a Naked Mannequin
Posted by mistergroonk in Marketing, One Sheets, Television on February 28, 2012
The Mad Men minimalist teaser poster made the rounds mid January 2012.
Now we have this “nonverbal representation” to whet our appetites until Mad Men returns to our collective TVs. Series creator Matthew Weiner had this to say about the image in the New York Times.
“This is a dreamlike image,†Mr. Weiner said, likening it to work of the Italian artist Giorgio de Chirico, who specialized in surreal, mannequin-like figures.
The image is “a nonverbal representation of where my head is at and where the show will be,†Mr. Weiner said.
“By the end of the season,†he said, “I guarantee you’ll know what it is about.â€
A “nonverbal representation” eh? We see the glorious previous 4 seasons of Mad Men, a show about high-powered, fast tallking advertising executives in 1960s New York City, was not a fluke.

Music Break: OK Go’s “Needing/Getting” Making Beautiful Music with a Chevy Sonic.
Posted by mistergroonk in Just Freaking Neat, Marketing, Music on February 7, 2012
OK Go is at it again with another fun music video. Do you remember when music videos were fun 80% of the time? We bet it was during the same time MTV actually played music videos.
Here we have their video “Needing/Getting.” This time OK Go’s sponsor in their musical journey is Chevy Sonic.
OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.
“Hula Cam” with GoPro vs Corey Rich’s “Why” with Nikon D4
Posted by mistergroonk in Marketing, Sport, Versus, Video on February 1, 2012
Two videos presented for your perusal.
1) “Hula Cam” is shot with a GoPro HD HERO (seen here before when a man filmed a shark stalking him). This video’s gotten a lot of notice since it’s debut in December 2011. So much so that TheOriginalHelski has dropped info on how she filmed it.
2) “Why” is a promotional video interviewing sporty folk doing sporty things in sporty locations. We’ll be damned if we still don’t like it. The video is filmed, we’re assuming, with the Nikon D4 and hits all the right buttons to make us consider buying the thing. Then we saw the price and re-thought everything.
The GoPro HD Hero remains in our thoughts as it remains closer to our price range.
Watch both videos under the cut.

Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg Geek Bait Final Entry to Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, ‘The World’s End’
Posted by mistergroonk in Intertube Madness, Marketing, Movies on January 25, 2012
Edgar Wright got chatty on his Twitter the other day. A Simon Pegg(photo seen below) laden tweet let lose the possible name for the last movie in the Blood and Ice-Cream Trilogy. That movie’s name being THE WORLD’S END.
This trilogy of Cornetto ice-cream connected films began with SHAUN OF THE DEAD(red strawberry Cornetto) and followed up with HOT FUZZ(blue Classic flavour). The last one, THE WORLD’S END has the green mint chocolate chip distinction.
Wright’s single tweet…

… has launched more than a dozen geek news sites into speculation mode and has made this long time Wright/Pegg/Frost fan positively giddy.
In fact, we’d like to take this moment to formally submit our services to these comedy masters to work on THE WORLD’S END film crew.
Guys…guys?
We’d work cheap.
Just pay us in ice-cream.
