By chance we scanned a tweet from @wildgrounds sharing a link to the documentary BRINGING GODZILLA DOWN TO SIZE: The Art of Japanese Special Effects(2008). This is a documentary interviewing the actors, special effects artists, directors and the like about the insane popularity of the Godzilla franchise and why, after all these years, the king of all monsters who still stomps about Tokyo the the 21st century remains a man in a rubber suit.
We were not able to attend every movie release in 2011. A fault of our not having the cash to make that happen. If any kindly geek movie review blog would like to change that…drop us a DM at @groonk.
*Ahem*
Now that the shameless plugging is over, check out the small group of ‘best of’ lists and trailer mashups we found interesting. First up is a 2011 movie mashup by SleepySkunk.
Our most favorite part of the year’s end is here. DJ Earworm released his latest United State of Pop mashup on December 25. We were too busy getting filled up on turkey and other goodstuffs to share then. But now…
2011 gave us songs of regret and anger, pride and perseverance, and lots of fire.

What is it: File this under: yet another simple idea so awesome that we should have thought of it first. Dwain Smith‘s pasting of googly eyes on X-Men covers is nerd comedy we can get behind. We don’t understand why but the more serious the X-Men cover, the better the eye googlies makes it. He’ll never run out of usable material from the Dork Age.
Getting to use a Tim Burton Batman quote was the delicious gravy on top of the idea that the US military has photographic evidence of finally stepping into the 21st century.
As it starts to drizzle, the brow is finally lowered. A handful of top officers are first off the ship, and then comes a young woman in dress blues, Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta.
Any Who…ahem… Mr Kelvington we salute the time and effort put into making this bit of awesome. Seeing Tom Baker and David Tennant together on the same screen was extra helpings of win all on their own.
